Volunteering keeps people active and involved in the community. At any age, volunteering builds community interaction and self-esteem. Adults and youth are encouraged to share their time and talents in a variety of community service projects to discover the joy of helping others in need.

Volunteer Workstation - Coffee Shop 


InterServ operates a coffee shop known as The Hive. Under the direction of The Hive Manager, volunteers will be serving a limited menu of food and beverages and conducting payment transactions. If you are dedicated to providing outstanding customer service, this is the volunteer workstation for you. The Hive is open Monday through Friday 7 AM to 12 PM. Volunteers may also be asked to work special events after hours or over the weekend. Coffee shop experience is a plus but not required. Volunteers will work alongside our professional staff.  All necessary training will be provided.


Volunteer Workstation - Event Support   


Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, volunteers will be helping set up and tear down furniture and equipment for events such as basketball, volleyball and boxing tournaments in our gymnasium. This position requires frequent lifting, bending and carrying. Typically, volunteers will work between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Volunteers may also be asked to work special events after hours or over the weekend. Experience is helpful but not required. Volunteers will work alongside our professional staff.  All necessary training will be provided.


Volunteer Workstation - Food Pantry


Under the supervision of our Food Pantry Director, volunteers will unload, organize and stock donated food items and assist with distributing food to families visiting our pantry during business hours. This volunteer position involves frequent lifting, bending and carrying. The Food Pantry is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 1 PM to 3:45 PM. Related experience is a plus but not required. Volunteers will work alongside our professional staff. All necessary training will be provided.


Volunteer Workstation - Kitchen


Under the direction of our Senior Nutrition Director, volunteers will be involved in baking, food prep, etc. Typically, volunteers will work between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Kitchen experience is helpful but not required. Volunteers will work alongside our professional staff. All necessary training will be provided.


Volunteer Workstation - Skilled Trades 


Qualified volunteers are needed to evaluate, estimate and perform basic home repairs that will allow seniors and/or those with disabilities to live safely and independently in their homes. Repairs may be as simple as changing a lightbulb or smoke detector to replacing a leaking faucet or a loose handrail. Days and times will vary but typically work will be performed between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Relevant skills and experience are required. Volunteers are required to provide their own tools and transportation.


Volunteer Workstation - Lawn Care 


Volunteers are needed to provide basic lawn care throughout the summer (May through November). Volunteers will be helping single parents, seniors, those with temporary or permanent disabilities, and others who need assistance taking care of their lawn and landscaping. Volunteers are required to provide their own tools and transportation.   


Volunteer Workstation - Meals on Wheels


These volunteers pick up pre-packaged meals from our location on King Hill Avenue and deliver them to homebound seniors on a designated route. Each route only requires a commitment of 60-90 minutes per day, one or two days per week. Volunteers are required to have a valid driver license and demonstrate proof of insurance.


Volunteer Workstation - Tax Center 


Under the direction of our Tax Coordinator, volunteers will support our Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program in a variety of ways including: calculating rent rebates and property tax credits; processing and filing income taxes; answering inbound phone calls and scheduling appointments; greeting clients and completing intake paperwork. *Volunteers calculating rent rebates, property tax credits and income taxes are required to have experience preparing taxes and will need to successfully complete IRS training prior to the beginning of the tax season. There is no cost to volunteers to complete this training. Tax season is typically from the second week in January through April 15. 


Volunteer Workstation – Catering 


Under the direction of our professional catering staff, volunteers will provide support in the following ways: baking, cooking, food prep, transporting food to the catering site. This volunteer position involves frequent lifting, bending and carrying. Catering experience is a plus but not required. Volunteers will work alongside our professional staff. All necessary training will be provided.
